License Requirements

Geologist-in-Training Certificate Requirements

  • Be of good moral character and reputation in the community.
  • Proof that the applicant is a graduate of an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the Board, with a concentration in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, applied engineering geology, environmental geology or their respective subdivisions, with a minimum of thirty (30) semester credit hours or forty-five (45) semester credit hours in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, applied engineering geology, environmental geology or their respective subdivisions.
  • Have passed the first part of the written exam (revalidation), known as Fundamentals of Geology.
  • To have paid the fees stipulated by the Board at the time.
  • Certification of payment of alimony assigned to the Department of the Family in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 86 of August 17, 1994 (ASUME).
  • Certificate of absence of criminal record in original and recent. (This certificate expires six months after being issued).

Licensing Requirements for Licensed Geologist

  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience under the supervision of a licensed geologist or a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a responsible person in charge of geological work certified by a licensed geologist.
  • Have passed the second part of the revalidation exam recognized as Principles of Practice.
  • Certification of payment of alimony assigned to the Department of the Family in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 86 of August 17, 1994 (ASUME).
  • Certificate of absence of criminal record in original and recent. (This certificate expires six months after being issued).

Documents to be submitted with the certificate and license application

  • Two (2) 2 x 2″ photographs, recently taken.
  • Two (2) 2 x 2″ photographs, taken recently.A receipt of Internal Revenue Payment (yellow copy) for the amount as may be stipulated by the Board from time to time.
  • Certificate of absence of criminal record, recently issued (six months duration).
  • Certification of alimony from the Department of the Family (ASUME).
  • Professional references form (three references).
  • Official graduation certificate from the accredited university that conferred the degree, and official transcript of credits.
  • Legal size pre-addressed stamped envelope with your name and address.
  • If you have a license from another state or country, please include evidence of such license.
