Impacto de Estado is an initiative created by Secretary Omar J. Marrero Díaz to highlight the work carried out in the Department of State. Through this project the following activities have been made, service fairs, collaborative agreements, and events with student organizations, among other activities.

The Department of State and the Alliance Française of Puerto Rico signed collaborative agreement

With the intent of strengthening international cooperation in educational and cultural matters, the Department of State and the Alliance Française of Puerto Rico signed a collaborative agreement in early November, Secretary of State, Omar Marrero announced.  The agreement will be in place until December 2024. The signing of this agreement happened during the 13th European Film Festival of Puerto Rico, where the Department of State served as one of its sponsors.

Event with the Independent League of the United Nations

As part of the celebration of United Nations Day, Secretary of State Omar J. Marrero Díaz led a conversation, in October, with the students of the Independent League of United Nations of Puerto Rico at the Symphony Hall of the Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré.

The Independent League of the United Nations includes schools such as TASIS, St. John’s School, University of Puerto Rico Secondary School, and Baldwin School. The students presented in front of the Secretary of State and the Consular Corps ideas on how to minimize the impact of global warming and offered several examples of resilience. They also discussed the possibility of a treaty to reduce the greenhouse effects and achieve a carbon neutral world by 2060. After their presentation, the students had the opportunity to have a meet-and-greet with members of the Consular Corps of Puerto Rico.

Department of State announces service fair in Plaza las Americas

The Department of State hosted a service fair with the intent of helping citizens with their professional applications before the Examining Boards attached to the government agency. This event took place in Plaza las Americas in early October. The Secretary of State mentioned that this service fair was created as part of the initiative Impacto de Estado. Secretary Marrero added that he seeks to duplicate events similar to this one and bring the Department of State services closer to the citizens.
